SF Chronical Wine Competition
Wine country gets even closer to the bay with this annual event. The event is on the 13th and is a fantastic start to a passionate Valentine’s weekend. Not only can you sip on the best wines in America, but you can enjoy them with local artisanal foods all with the price of admission.
Tulip Mania at Pier 39
From February 13-21 the pier will have 39,000 colorful blooms spread across the wharf. Pamphlets with self-guided tours can be found here or just enjoy the flowers while meandering through the shops and restaurants with your loved one.
Visit the Exploratorium after dark where you can enjoy Pairings: on the origins and artistry of chocolate and a pop-up store from Recchiuti Confections. Be sure to check out the Tactile Dome – an experience in complete darkness while sipping on cocktails.
Bicycle Built for Two
In case you need another reason to get your heart pounding on Valentine’s Day you can take a romantic bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge is known for many things, with the most romantic being a popular spot for marriage proposals. You can find more information on rentals here.
Chocolate Tasting Tour
Choose from two different yet equally tantalizing tours with Gourmentwalks. Only in San Francisco can there be a 1 1/2 mile walking tour with such an abundance of locally sourced high-quality chocolate shops.
I am not sure what this has to do with Valentines Day other than it has been a local tradition for years. For lovers and enemies alike bring a pillow to the Justin Herman by 6 pm.
